Aliaune Thiam, better known by his stage name Akon was born on April 16, 1973. He is the son of a Senegalese percussionist. At the age of fifteen, Akon had moved from Senegal to America to pursue his love of music. “Operations of Nature” was the first song he recorded; he was only fifteen years old.
